As the war in Ukraine ensued, the World Food Programme (WFP) turned to RIWI to complement their phone surveys to assess and monitor food security in all parts of Ukraine. WFP used RIWI’s Random Domain Intercept Technology (RDIT) to triangulate the phone survey data, particularly to supplement incomplete phone survey data in select areas (Krym, Sevastopilska and Luhanska). RIWI collected a sample of 4,627 web respondents across the country to complement the phone survey sample of 4,741 phone respondents.
RIWI is an excellent alternative source of data in situations where traditional face to face and phone surveys cannot access representative samples of the population. By complementing phone surveys, RIWI was able to provide WFP with a complete picture of the food insecurity situation in inaccessible areas.
